8 Nutrition Tips on Carbohydrate Consumption

As a bodybuilder it is very important that you learn how to properly consume carbohydrates since they are very vital as far as your muscle growth is concerned. If you do not take proper carbohydrates you will not be able to stimulate fast muscle growth.

You need to increase your intake of complex carbohydrates

For you to be able to undertake intense training in the gym your body requires to be supplied with plenty of energy. Most of this energy comes from calories since they are the chief source of fuel for the body. Complex carbohydrates contain plenty of calories which are the prerequisite for intense training. There are various sources of complex carbohydrates which include; like yams, oatmeal, cassava, brown rice, and potatoes.

The other reason why you need to increase your intake of complex carbohydrates is because they are very effective in offsetting the feeling of fatigue since they contain long chain sugars which are not digested very fast by the body. Include plenty of fiber rich carbohydrates

As a bodybuilder you need to step up your anabolic response and fiber rich carbohydrates will help you achieve this. The uptake of amino acids and sugars is also elevated when you increase your intake of fiber rich carbs in your diet.

Eat 5 to 6 meals daily

You need to increase the frequency of taking your meals and do not rely on the conventional three meals a day. You should ensure that each meal contains plenty of carbohydrates and also other food groups as well. If you increase the frequency of your meals you will be able to maintain anabolism for a long period of time.

After each workout you should consume simple carbs

You need to consume simple cabs after working out since the body is able to absorb them more rapidly. You therefore get an instant supply of insulin which is a big plus as far as your body anabolism is concerned. Insulin helps promote anabolism and counter catabolism effects. If you want to take simple carbs there are various sources which include honey, white rice and white bread.

Eat a lot of carbs after working out

Lower your fruit intake

Fruits contain fructose which are usually converted into glycogen and stored in the liver where it is easily converted into body fat.
