Alkaline Diet System - The Healthier Way to Live

Eating right is living right! If you are not eating well then you can never live a life that you want to live. You must first know what to eat and an alkaline diet system helps you to do that exactly. Little changes in your eating habits can make drastic changes in your health, energy level and productivity.

When food is digested, it leaves residues in our body. Residues are also called ash and can either be acid or alkaline, depending on the mineral composition of the food. Of course, if a certain food is highly acidic in content, you can expect that the ash or residue it will leave in your body is acid as well. On the other hand, an alkaline-rich food will leave alkaline ash in the body.

A healthy person must maintain an acid to alkaline ratio of 4:1. Keeping your acidity and alkalinity in just the right range is the key to good health. A decrease or an increase in this ratio can result to serious illnesses. The alkaline ash diet focuses on eating the right types of food which contain a good amount of alkaline.

What are Alkaline Rich Foods?

Fruits such as watermelon, mango, papaya, grapefruit, limes, berries, grapes, apple, kiwi, pear, and lemon are rich sources of alkaline ash. Green leafy vegetables like parsley, celery, broccoli, raw spinach, asparagus, lettuce, okra, green beans are also great alkaline ash sources. Almonds, flaxseed oil, onions, garlic and olive oil are alkaline-rich foods as well. These are kinds of food that we must regularly consume.

Meanwhile, acid ash foods or highly-acidic foods are beef, pork, shellfish, dairy, beer, softdrinks and artificial sweeteners. White rice, potatoes, white sugar, brown sugar and coffee also have high acid content. Fish, venison, eggs, butter, yogurt, kidney beans, string beans, tea and fruit juices have low acid content when eaten at just the right servings.

If your diet is largely made up of acid ash foods, it's about time to switch to the alkaline ash diet. However, it is important to note that not all types of nuts, beans or legumes are acid ash foods. Totally refraining from eating a particular food will only be beneficial if you're sure of its acid or alkaline content.
To be sure, you need to know the specific kinds of food that belong to the alkaline diet list.
