Have you ever considered the pH value of the food you consume? It wasn't something that ever thought about until very recently. Once I did, I realized just how acidic my diet really was and so I started a journey towards pH balance in my body promoting, energy, vitality and well being.
Discovering whether you eat an acid diet is fairly easy. If you can count the amount of fruit and vegetables you eat each day on one hand, then your diet probably has an overall acidifying effect upon your body.
In the U.K. doctors advise that we should eat over five portions of fresh fruit and vegetables every day as part of a healthy diet. The alkaline acid diet takes this advice one step further by suggesting we eat much more than five portions of fruit and vegetables per day.
The alkaline acid diet promotes a diet that tends towards overall alkalinity. This can bring our bodies back into the correct balance. The alkaline acid diet suggests basing your diet around vegetables, citrus fruits, tubers, nuts, and legumes while at the same time limiting your consumption of grains, dairy products, meat, excess salt and alcohol which are regarded as acid foods. Regardless of the terminology alkaline acid diet, reducing the amount of acid foods while at the same time increasing consumption of alkaline foods is desirable for many well known health effects. The alkaline acid diet may help if you often lack energy or feel lethargic as well as protect you from serious medical issues like osteoporosis. It is also a healthy diet that can also promote weight loss.
There is a lot of scientific research available online that the alkaline acid diet is based upon. Research to date suggests increasing the alkali content of our diets may play a part in reducing bone loss. As we grow older, this can help protect us from fractures as well as other diseases, e.g. osteoporosis.
Consuming a larger proportion of healthy alkali foods like fruit and vegetables as we all know is much better for our bodies than an diet consisting of acid foods, high in meats and processed foods that are often fattening and provide little nutrition.
There are many factors that effect our body's pH levels. Some people's diet is not too acidic however by simply considering how much fruit and vegetables you eat, you will have a good idea if you are eating an acid diet. It is difficult to eat too much fruit and vegetables. By simply increasing the amounts in your diet and at the same time reducing the quantities of processed foods you eat will likely make you feel better physically and mentally. This is the claim of the alkaline acid diet.
In my journey towards a more alkaline diet, I am eating and drinking much more vegetables, I feel like I am becoming much healthier. Is this because my body's pH balance is becoming slightly more alkaline or is it just because I am eating healthier foods?
I am still considering this question. My main concern is feeling healthier. So far, following the alkaline acid diet is producing the results I seek. Scientific research supports the alkaline acid diet. This makes me certain that it is a diet worthy of serious consideration if you are concerned with feeling healthy and having great energy levels. In my experience, the acid alkaline diet is working well.
