Fish Oil Reviews May Not Tell You the Whole Story

I've always thought reading a review gave me a balanced opinion about the subject matter under scrutiny. But with many of them, additional information could be included that would make us better informed.

After having read a few fish oil reviews recently I've noticed that while the core information is often good, well presented and useful to the casual reader, there could be more. Therein lies one of the problems about a review, how long should it be and what kind of details should be included.

We tend to like our information in small chunks with graphics and images helping us understand when making comparisons. That's fine and helps us in knowing what criteria are used, like price, quality and that all important one, value for money.

Like many dietary and nutritional pills, the omega 3 supplements market is ripe for mis-advertising, plus spurious and dubious claims about how good they are. That's where fish oil reviews come in handy, to sort the wheat from the chaff.

A recent one I saw made a bold attempt at highlighting what brands were considered to have the best combined dosages of the two most important fatty acids. These are EPA plus DHA, crucial for our mental well being and
brainpower. I was very surprised to read how some brands have almost none of these two, so you would wasting your money buying those.

Where I think it was lacking was in providing more details on the quality of fish oils used in the manufacture of these capsules. That's very important to me as it impacts on not only my health but on the environmental source of where the fish are caught. Most of the companies that offer a quality product should also be willing to divulge their COA or certificate of analysis. This is basically an independent report into the levels of pollutants within their product offering.

There's a lot more that I cover on this subject on my main site. Some excellent brands don't even feature on any fish oil reviews, but should.
