What is Acai Fruit What Does it Look Like?

You probably saw acai berry ads on many web sites. Or perhaps you've herd about it in the news. You get that it some kind of diet product or some such,but what is the actual Acai Berry fruit? It's a berry found in the rainforest of Amazon. The thing that makes it special is its very high nutrition - it contains several minerals and vitamins, is rich in fiber and above all is a very powerful antioxidant, more powerful than red wine and blueberry in fact. Antioxidants have been linked to various health benefits for a while now. Amongst other things antioxidants help your body flush out toxins, which is great for your health.

At this point you are probably wondering where you can buy those wonderful berries. Put down the pen and step away from the paper! Sadly, acai berry is 90% seeds and only 10% pulp so you are very unlikely to find a store that sells the berries themselves. At least I am not aware of any such stores in US, perhaps you might have better luck in Brazil. No fear though, seeing how unbelievably nutritious those berries are a number of companies have stepped up, and today you can buy lots of various products based on acai. From juices to capsules to powders, even frozen pulp and smoothies.

I see I haven't answered the second part of the title - what does acai look like. It's a small berry, about the size of a grape, purplish in color. And it grows on palms. The most amazing thing about it though is its taste. It truly defines the term"exotic taste" as, surprisingly enough it tastes like a mix of berries and chocolate! Unbelievable isn't it?
